Aftercare
Caring for Your Restored Flagstone Floor
Now that your flagstone floor has been fully restored, the aftercare couldn’t be easier. With a few simple habits, you’ll preserve the natural finish and help it age beautifully for years to come.
How Do I Clean My Flagstone Floor?
Use a soft, natural hair broom as part of your daily cleaning routine. For a more thorough clean, mop with warm water only — avoid detergents, as they can cause the premature breakdown of the natural beeswax finish. Spillages can be dealt with using a damp cloth.
Maintenance Warranty
Your restored flagstone floor automatically comes with a three-month maintenance warranty. If any pointing degrades or oil dries back during this time, we’ll return to repair or touch up at no extra cost.
The maintenance warranty begins from the completion date of your restoration.
Will the Oil or Beeswax Need Reapplication?
Unlikely. In many cases, your flagstone floor will have gone untouched for decades — sometimes even centuries. Once restored, the natural oils and beeswax will continue to nourish the stone, creating a lasting lustre that improves with gentle wear over time.
Can I Use Rugs on My Flagstone Floor?
Yes — but always use rugs and underlays made from natural materials so the stone can breathe. Avoid synthetic or rubber-backed coverings, which can trap moisture and affect breathability.
Long-Term Care
- Sweep regularly with a natural hair broom.
- Mop occasionally with warm water only.
- Avoid harsh cleaners and synthetic polishes.
- Let the floor breathe — choose natural materials for any coverings.
